To provide Project Management and Quantity Surveying services for a new sprinkler installation at a recycling plant in Coventry. Following the Fund Monitoring role, FSL Projects were appointed to directly manage the project to protect the new recycling plant.
Works involved the construction of a new waste recycling facility and a follow-on project to install an extensive sprinkler installation for the building. Liaison with the contract at all levels was paramount to the success of the project, which was finished on time and to the budge established from the outset. With the amount of waste intended to be stored within the building, the need for sprinklers was crucial. We developed a sprinkler system that exceeded the requirements of the insurance companies, including sprinklers on conveyor belts, water cannons and the additional fire reels around the building. This system also required a 12m high tank to be installed connected directly to the town fire main.
Added Value: FSL Projects added value in adopting a flexible approach to the project and delivering the project to ensure the client’s needs were always met. With the works built on a live waste recycling site, the health & safety for multiple persons needed to be factored into the programming of the works.
Client Comments: “FSL Projects played a key role in liaising with the fund on the project and coordinating with the main contractor. Their project management style suited our philosophy and allowed us to undertake our own roles within the business. We felt confident in leaving issues in their hands, knowing that a solution would be found”.
